Effect of Guided Reading Strategy to the Reading Comprehension of Grade IX Students at SMP Negeri 12 Pematang Siantar on a Narrative Text

چکیده

The research utilized quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. A total of 287 students from class IX at SMP Negeri 12 Pematang Siantar was chosen as the population. sample split into two classes: experimental (IX 1), which had 28 and used guided reading, control 5), lectures. instruments were pre-test post-test multiple choice narrative text. To process statistical data, researcher SPSS version 26. Kolmogorov-Smirnov Shapiro-Wilk showed results 0.200 (experimental) 0.140 (control). group's mean score exceeded group’s by 70 points, leading to acceptance alternative hypothesis rejection null hypothesis. This demonstrates that reading strategy significantly enhances students' text comprehension.
